why mediate

A courtroom decides for you.
Mediation lets you decide.

In mediation, the parties control the outcome — where to concede, where to hold, and what a workable resolution actually looks like. A judge or jury has no such latitude, and no view of what matters most to the people involved.

Cost

A full-day mediation is a fraction of what discovery alone costs in a contested case — with a flat, shared fee you know in advance.

Time

Matters that would sit on a docket for a year or more are often resolved in a single half- or full-day session.

Control

You make thoughtful decisions about what to concede and what to protect, instead of accepting a ruling issued by someone else.

Information

Even without a settlement, each party leaves understanding the other side's pain points, and can evaluate next steps, pre-suit or in litigation, with far better information.

process

Five steps. No surprises.

Mediation is voluntary from beginning to end. Either party may take a break, request a private caucus, or step away at any point.

01

Reach Out

Schedule a no-cost intake call. We'll run a conflict check and confirm that mediation is appropriate and safe for everyone involved.
02

Agree to Mediate

You sign a plain-language engagement agreement, choose a date, and confirm your preferred fee arrangement.
03

Preparation

Statements and key documents are reviewed in advance. Reasonable preparation time is built into the flat-rate fee.
04

The Session

A half or full day, virtual or in person. Joint discussion, with private caucus whenever it moves things forward.
05

The Agreement

Key terms agreed upon are captured in writing. Each party is encouraged to have their own attorney review it before signing or filing.

Amie R. Pelletier

Owner & Certified Mediator

Over two decades managing litigation, in service of minimizing risk and maximizing reward.

Amie Pelletier has sat on both sides of the table — plaintiff and defense — through hundreds of mediations, court ordered settlement conferences and informal settlement negotiations.

That vantage point is the practice's whole premise. She has watched capable people spend years and considerable money to arrive at an outcome chosen by a judge or jury, and she has watched other people reach a workable resolution in a single afternoon because someone neutral kept the conversation productive.

Mystic Mediation, LLC was founded on the second outcome. Sessions are structured but not rigid, confidential, and paced to the people in the room. As a neutral, Amie does not represent any party, take sides, or decide anything — she guides the conversation, tests assumptions privately when it helps, and captures the key terms of an agreement reached in writing.

what clients say

The Mystic Mediation Experience

*Mediation is confidential, so matters are described only in general terms and always with the parties' permission.

"Amie helped me settle a very sensitive case involving extremely adverse parties. Over the course of two sessions, she skillfully brought the parties together by identifying common ground and offering creative solutions that ultimately led to a settlement. Her ability to navigate such challenging dynamics was remarkable and resulted in the resolution of a case I genuinely did not think could be settled."

faq

Before you call...

If your question isn't here, ask it in the form below — there's no charge for the initial conversation.

Do we need attorneys to mediate?

No. Many parties mediate without counsel. When you are not represented, the mediator cannot give any party legal advice — she can offer general legal information and explain common approaches, but not tell you what you should do. Before anything is final, each party is strongly encouraged to review any key terms reached.

Generally, yes. Statements made in mediation, documents prepared for it, and settlement discussions are typically inadmissible in court, subject to applicable law. That protection is what makes it possible to speak candidly and get to a real resolution. However, consult with an attorney if you have any questions regarding attorney client privilege or work product protections.

If already in litigation, the parties proceed on that course with a better understanding of what the key issues are and barriers to resolution. If not yet in suit, the parties may decide to proceed with litigation or continue to work to resolve the dispute.

Mystic Mediation, LLC offers half-day (4 hours) and full-day (8 hours) mediation sessions at flat rates. Amie will discuss with you what is right for your particular situation during the intake call. Mediation may take less time than the session, due to quick agreement, or alternatively, a rapid realization that mediation is futile. Due to the prep time involved Mystic Mediation, LLC does not refund the session fees and requires payment at the time of scheduling.

Yes, virtual mediation is a popular choice. Mystic Mediation uses Zoom, and can facilitate mediation through joint sessions and breakout rooms for the parties to meet privately with the mediator.

The parties typically split the cost of mediation, but there may be nuances. Discuss with Amie during intake if you believe there may be special circumstances, including the inability of a party to pay.
